Partner 3. 1o. Dimotiko Sxoleio Alexandrias / 1st Primary School of Alexandria, Greece

The 1st Primary School of Alexandria is a public school in a provincial town of Northern Greece. It was founded in 1956. The stone building’s traditional architecture, as well as its courtyard area of six acres make it a jewel of the city. The school is located next to the legendary Mount Olympus and the ancient city of Vergina, the homeland of Alexander the Great, where you can visit the Royal Tomb of King Philip of Macedonia, Father of Alexander the Great. Our 180 students are children of rural families, who come from a variety of religious and geographical backgrounds. Additionally, over the last few years refugee students have been added to the student body.

The 1st primary school of Alexandria currently participates in four Erasmus+ projects and has also participated in the European Project H2020: “Open Schools for Open Societies – OSOS”. The main axes of the European projects we are working on in our school are inclusive learning, improving mental resilience, digital literacy, learning through art and developing environmental awareness. Our goal and vision is the transformation of our school into a modern and open learning space, in the hope that it will be possible to implement innovations that will transform the culture of our students, teachers but also society as a whole.

In EcoPodcasts, the 1st primary school of Alexandria conducts pilot testing activities of the EcoPodcasts programme (curriculum, training programme, online platform and application) in Greece and it also develops various educational resources for the EcoPodcasts Resource Hub. Additionally, the school will be responsible for creating students’ podcasts.
